Revlon Haul!

Did I ever mention how much I love BigLots? Well, I guess I will now. Because today I got 6 Revlon nail polishes for the price of one. WOOHOO! I got 4 scented ones and 2 regulars, for $6! Unheard of! For the scented ones I swatched tiny drops on my skin (which you might see in the pictures) and they all smelled amazing too. Anyhow, I'll spare the chit-chat and just show off my new beauties. The first 4 are my scenteds and the last 2 are my normals.

I bought this polish with my own money on my own time, and I am not associated with Revon in any way.

I Need A Refresh-Mint Swatch+Review!

I found this little beauty after a nice stroll through my local Rite Aid, and I figured for less than $2, why not try this? It's a cute color, it reminds me of China Glaze's For Audrey, (which I later find out that it's a dupe!) and I've heard raving reviews about this polish in particular on lots of blogs. What have I got to lose? I bought it, and put it on, and the compliments started flowing in. It's gorgeous! It suits my fair skin tone too. Wet 'n Wild's MegaLast Salon Nail Color in I Need A Refresh-Mint was definitely a great investment (of about $1.79). Oh my yes. The formula is smooth, very creamy, workable. The ManiCurve Pro Brush they have now is great, it resembles the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure brushes, maybe even OPI's ProWide brushes. I might not go that far though, it's a little too fluffy still, but they're on the right track. Only two coats for the color to be opaque and true to the bottle, no strong odors or streaking or awful drying time. I have some of the Sally Hansen salon polishes, and I wish they dried this fast. This is fantastic. I think I'll have to go back and pick up a few more of these polishes! Not to mention these particular polishes and other Wet 'n Wilds are almost always on sale at Rite Aid, woohoo! I definitely reccomend this. I'm not easy on my nails and they haven't even worn or chipped at all. We have a winner! Also, a great spring and summer color. I'll be taking this one to the beach.

I bought this polish with my own money on my own time, and I am not associated with Sally Hansen, China Glaze, Essie, or Wet 'n Wild in any way.

Commander in Chic Swatch+Review!

Hello there! So as I said in my last post, I'm amazed by the deal I came across. And now that I have this color on my nails, I'm floored. This is sooooo pretty for fall, winter, maybe even a little spring action right here. I'm in love. It's a gorgeous mocha-taupey kind of color, with some purple undertones. It went on amazing, and the thick brush that this line has, I personally love. It's a one-stroke-and-done kind of deal! Two coats for full color, it dries a little darker than in the bottle, but that's alright by me! These polishes in this line are five-in-one polishes: base, strengthener, growth treatment, color, and topcoat. So I treated it as such, no base, no topcoat. It doesn't even need them! It's so smooth, fills ridges, and its amazingly shiny. I give this a five out of five! Hallelujah! Jackpot! What is your favorite Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Color, and which ones should I try? What is your favorite fall and winter color?

Don't Discount The Discount Bins!

Well I love Rite Aid, as you might have already found out. I love clearance bins, as I will demonstrate in my upcoming haul. But this, this couldn't wait for the haul. It deserves its own personal post. It's that important, yes it is! I was digging through for any goodies I could find, and I found a lovely plastic wrapped package gem! A Sally Hansen combo pack? Yes please! It was a bundle of joy, consisting of Commander in Chic, part of the Complete Salon Manicure line, and a small Nails & Cuticles Hand Creme with shea butter, also by Sally Hansen. It was only $3. Ummm, YES?! The polish itself cost twice as much as that! I'm also pretty sure the hand creme is around $5 as well. Now this polish, I know it's a hot color for fall and winter, I'm not too sure if it's even on their shelves anymore when I glanced. It's a dupe for the notorious OPI Metro Chic, I must have it. So I bought it, duh! Two coats and this baby was ready to go. No base, no top, and yet still, SO SHINY! I love this line of drugstore polishes. I have OPI polishes, and these are comparable. Check them out! And the hand creme is amazing, by the way. :) See my next post for the swatch and full review!

One Heart, One Fight.

Hey guys! So I just wanted to ask all of my readers to just take a moment and look at this fundraiser I'm doing for my school. It's raising money to help families who have a loved one battling cancer, for an organization called the Four Diamonds Fund. My school participates in an event every year called MiniTHON. Its based off of the parent Penn State THON. I hope you will consider supporting my participation in this event. Any contribution will help, and all donations are 100% tax deductible. I promise this is a donation you'll never regret, and it is definitely worth it. Every penny counts! For the kids! Here is a video of last year's success in the MiniTHON, and what it's all about for us. Please help! :) Thank you everyone!

Sally Hansen Crackle Topcoat! Review + Ideas

Hey guys! So, this marks a day in Let's Talk Polish history! I uploaded the blog's first YouTube video! Check it out! It has all of the swatches for my long-awaited shatter/texture coat post!

So here's the review!
I really do like these polishes, my only beef is that they get a little clumpy after a while, but nothing a little polish thinner can't handle. Other than that, I think they're great. I haven't seen shimmery purple shatters, except for this. And I'm a sucker for shimmery purple. The brushes are small, but for me, who has small hands and therefore small nails, I can't complain. Thanks for watching and reading! I will be back soon with more reviews, hauls, swatches, and inspirations!

Burt's Bees Review!

While working on my future tutorial to be coming soon, I was going through my various manicure supplies and thought I'd share one of my favorite beauties with you guys! I highly recommend it! It's Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, 100% natural, and it smells like fresh lemons while moisturizing your cuticles! The reason I use this is because I'm more of an all-natural advocate, and I definitely prefer this over any chemical cuticle balm, for around the same prices. This smells better than others I've used, too. I can pronounce all of the ingredients! You can purchase it from a local drugstore, I got mine from Rite Aid, and you can also go to Wal Mart, Target, any place with a cosmetics and beauty section should have it. Most stores carry Burt's Bees, but just in case you can't find it, here's where to buy it for $6! Burt's Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
And excuse my nails, they're a bit of a mess at the moment! Removing red polishes never works out in my favor.
Ingredients: Sweet almond oil, beeswax, lemon peel oil, cocoa seed butter, candelila wax, sunflower seed oil, rosemary leaf extract, soybean oil, beta-carotene, canola oil, and vegetable oil!
Nothing scary, no added fragrances, no chemicals! :) This makes me very happy! And in case you were wondering, beta-carotene is very good for your skin, nails, hair, everything. Here's an article on it, in case you're curious! Click Here

Tragedy

Last night, I drove by a car accident, and I lost a former classmate. He was a senior the year I was a freshman, I didn't know him very well, but it doesn't take much to hit home for me. He was hit by a drunk driver. Please, everyone, I urge you to report any suspicious driving at ANY time ANYWHERE. It might save a life. He was 19 years old. Way too young to be taken away. Please, never drink and drive, and never ignore warning signs of a drunk driver. My heart is heavy, and I will be helping other friends through this time. I may not be back for a while, but this is indeed why, and please spread the word and awareness, maybe collectively we can all stop the drunk drivers.
Article by local news - It can happen to anyone. Please share this with your friends. I want everyone to know, just so history doesn't repeat itself and we don't lose more young lives. He was just an average, innocent kid. He was someone's child, someone's best friend. No one deserves this.

New Nail Polishes!

So I was at one of my favorite department stores today and I found 2 great polishes that I've been eyeing up the past few trips, and since everything was 20% off that day, I jumped on it. The first polish is Garnet Gems by Milani, and from what I understand, it's hard to get a hold of nowadays. Oh, how I LOVE this color! It's a black jelly base with gorgeous deep red microglitter. Vampy! Then the second polish was a Kleancolor mini, called 24 Carat. So cute! I loved the little bottle, and I love the color. Clear jelly base with lots of golden glitter, and some holo pieces. But that's not the best part! GIANT HOLO DIAMONDS! I'm a sucker for holo.

I bought this polish with my own money on my own time, and I am not associated with Kleancolor or Milani in any way.

New Gel Polish!

So I finally tried out the free polish SensatioNAIL sent me, and I love love love LOVE it! It's a creamy lilac with a very slight and flirty shimmer, with all colors of the rainbow! But it can only be seen in sunlight, at least the rainbow-y part. You can sort of see the shimmer if you look extremely hard and under intense light. I love this polish. Too bad its limited edition!

In this case, I did not buy this polish with my own money or my own time, however I won it in a contest. I am not associated with SensatioNAIL or Nailene in any way.

New Colors! Winter Sparkle!

Today I finally got my order from Walmart in the mail, two new colors from Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear collection. I got the beautiful creamy gray, Wet Cement, which I love. Two coats and it's good to go. It's almost brownish in its hue, but I love this shade of gray. It's a gray that I can actually wear! Then my second polish was Celeb City. I'm a sucker for glitters and silvers, but this one takes the cake as my favorite silver. It's almost like a foil, I can't believe how shiny it is! And it isn't sheer, like most glittery silvers that I have are. Two coats and it was like tin foil! Have you guys tried these polishes yet? What do you think?

I bought this polish with my own money on my own time, and I am not associated with Sally Hansen in any way.

No-Water Water Marble! Version 2!

There's another way to get a cool water-marble look but without the water and mess. Simple as base coat, let it dry, then apply a second coat, and while still wet drop one other color or multiples if you wish, and swirl with a toothpick! Let it dry when you get the design you like, and topcoat! I did it with Empower by Revlon as my base, and Minted by Revlon as my second color. Let me know what you think!
I only did one accent finger, but it looks awesome!

No-Water Water Marble! Version 1!

There's an easier way to get a water-marbled look! You know what the secret is? A sandwich bag! Just paint a base-color onto the bag, then drop a few more colors onto it and swirl with a toothpick. Let it dry. Then peel it off when its dry, cut it into pieces to fit your nails, paint your nails with a base coat and while it's still sticky, stick on your homemade nail stickers! They're just like the ones that you'll pay $10 for from Sally Hansen. And you don't need any water for this! No taping your nails, no anything! It's mess free! I used a brown base and blue and mint as my accent colors. Go ahead and try this!
Ohhh messy cuticles, But the nails still look cool, right?
I did this on my own time with my own money, I'm not associated with Sally Hansen in any way.

Galaxy Nails!

I recently tried a tutorial I saw on YouTube, and I think it turned out pretty awesome! It shows how to make your nails look like tiny little galaxies! Sweet! Pardon my cuticles though, this was a while ago, and yes, they are dreadful! But the nails are what counts! I used a black base, a makeup sponge to dab on colors and I used a coat of shimmer, coat of glitter, and a few dots of white. SO EASY!

Excuse my dirty cuticles! I didn't clean up before taking the picture! :/
Here's a great tutorial on how to make this look:
